I'm incredibly grateful for the impact the scholarship has had on my education. Balancing educational expenses with daily living costs can be challenging, especially with rising food and transportation costs.

Frequent Questions

How can I support a student?

Donors can sponsor a student for a minimum period of one year through a monthly cash transfer programme. Once a student and a donor are matched with each other, the donor will have two options; either to transfer the support amount directly to the student’s or their guardian’s account, or to transfer it to STEPS, who will transfer the funds to the student each month.

Can I choose which student to sponsor?

Yes, donors can select who they want to sponsor. STEPS will share non-identifiable information of students seeking sponsorship with prospective donors and discuss their preferences. once the donor selects the student STEPS will introduce the student and the donor to each other. in any case confidential and direct contact information of each other will not be shared.

How do students qualify for a scholarship?

We look at a number of criteria before selecting students. These include educational achievements, enrolment in a higher education institution, good character and behaviour, parents’ commitment to education, and family income status.

Do conditions apply to students, donors and mentors?

Yes. Apart from data and privacy-related terms and conditions, each of the students, donors, and mentors should agree to specific Terms and Conditions respective to their roles. STEPS reserves the right to discontinue a student, donor, or mentor if, in its opinion, they violate theTerms and Conditions.

Can students of different religious and ethnic backgrounds receive STEPS support?

Yes. STEPS cherishes diversity. It is open to students and donors of all ethnic and religious backgrounds. It does not discriminate based on religion or ethnicity. Due to its humble origins it started by offering scholarships through recommendations from known persons, but now it has grown into a broad and inclusive programme. At the same time, STEPS is a value-based programme. It encourages students to be faithful to their own religious beliefs and values, and be exemplary citizens.
